The biggest problem with the pit bull type dogs is not with the dogs themselves; it is on the other end of the leash. Many people have absolutely no idea what it means to own these types of dogs, in regards to exercise, training, and socialization requirements. Genetics can play a part in how animal aggressive (or if very poorly bred, how human aggressive) they can be, but even then with proper socialization and training it can be well managed. It amazes me how many ignorant dog owners there are walking around. It also makes me very sad because the way things work right now, whenever something bad does happen the human at fault never gets punished- it's the dog that is always confiscated and euthanized, giving the media the chance to sensationalize "yet another pit bull attack". It's really sickening. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Why; on a good week; a pit bull might only maul 2 or 3 kids; ..sometimes it doesn't even require a hospital visit.
