RE: goldendoodle information
May 10 2007, 3:50 PM EDT While some of the information on the site you have posted a link to is okay, some of it is not correct. There is no scientific proof or evidence that "hybrid vigor" exists; Goldendoodles should never be backbred to the point of being close to an F7 and turning a Goldendoodle into a purebred dog (why would anyone, first of all) requires entirely much more than just having 7 generations of dogs on one's premises. The information on the swiss kennels site with regards to health is also inaccurate. Every single dog on earth carries at least 4-5 silent, defective, polygenic, recessive genes that can be carried and passed on to their offspring. Health testing will NOT in any way deem any offspring as being genetically free from issues later down the road. Until DNA markers become a reality for breeders to weed out the silent carriers, health testing on a breeders' breeding stock serves no purpose to the over all health of any created offspring from the tested parental dogs. All a breeder is providing to those who buy a puppy from them, should they pay for all the expensive testing on their breeding dogs, is a false sense of security. Goldendoodle information across the board is very controversial and will vary from breeder to breeder. Some agree to just disagree. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: goldendoodle information
Jun 15 2007, 12:28 AM EDT This comment is with regards to the link "goldenpoo". If you are so sure that providing all of the genetic testing on your breeding dogs will allow you to never create a doodle puppy with so much as a "blemish", why don't you then offer your customers a life time guarantee? Surely since you believe that your being a vet tech and having all of your breeding dogs tested for everything under the doggie sun, will allow your dogs to have perfect pups. I'm just curious why you have a limited health warranty instead of a lifetime one? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
