My dog acts obnoxiosly

My Miniature Schnauzer Lucy is a little over a year old . When we got her she was six weeks and 2 days later I found out I was pregnant. I tried to train her the best I could before Alex got here but I was half way successful .Sometimes she'll go out side and other times she potty's inside. Now my baby is six months old and it's getting worse. She barks obnoxousely at anyone she see's outside of the home and visiters , I can't get her to let me know when she has to potty or to potty outside ,(she'll sniff and eat bugs outside for 45 minutes then come in and poop. Last night she pooped in the house twice and when we went to punish her she bit me and my husband and drew blood from Jim,I couldn't get her under control, (keep her from biting us ,to even grab her ) I had to throw a blanket over her head to keep her from biting and grab her . I am almost at wits end But I love her dearly and I couldn't dream of getting rid of her yet with out atleast trying something. Whatever I am doing wrong ,maybe I've just forgotton how to train a dog.The last time I successfully trained one, I was twelve and it was my pomeranian who passed two years ago.(and I am now in my 20's.) Perhaps I should start training her from the begginning , although she hardly a puppy at this point .I would love to get all the information I can about training if possible. My address is Please let me know what you think.

Do you still have your Lucy and is she doing any better at potty training? I have just now seen your discussion and wanted to make a few suggestions. This has worked for us and maybe you have already tried it but this is what I do. As soon as mine wake up they go outside. I watch them and as soon as they potty I praise them a lot then when they get back inside I immediately give them a treat and praise them again. With schnauzers I have learned that they don't always go to the door and let you know. You have to watch for signs like they will just stand and stare at you or maybe prance back and forth or go around in circles. After a nap or if they have been playing extra hard they need to go outside and once again give them the treat and praise. After they have learned that this is a good thing to go outside to potty then you can slack off on the treats or if you want to continue the treats you can. You can also hang a bell on the door and have her touch it with her paw each time she goes outside. Sometimes they will learn to hit the bell when they want to go outside. I still have an occasional accident to clean up but that is because I was busy and didn't pay attention to them. I have 14 schnauzers in our house so sometimes that happens. I have learned that praise is a better teacher that punishment. I know it is discouraging sometimes but be patient and give her lots of love and you will be so happy with her once she learns to potty outside. Schnauzers are so lovable and sweet. I wish you the best with Lucy!...... Have a wonderful day!....Monica and . If you would like to reach me here is my website www.snuggleschnauzers.com Do you find this valuable?
