Alice as home security
Apr 2 2006, 7:06 PM EDT
I write this as Alice has her paws on my lap and licking my elbow. I go to scratch her head and she immediately rolls over to expose her belly for scratching. How can this 50 lbs black lab/greyhound mix scare the crap out of anybody knocking at the door? A year ago, I was working upstairs and Alice was laying at my feet. In an instance, Alice jumps up, starts barking/howling at the top of her lungs and races downstairs. I walk downstairs yelling at her to stop as I wasn't expecting any visitors. That's when I see a strange man inside our kitchen, backing up and stepping behind the door to shield himself from Alice. So I get control of Alice and the man (standing outside now) asks if "Diane" was in... Apparently Diane had told the man to let himself in the back door. Of course I don't know any Diane, so I apologized and closed the door. Alice received a few (all organic and unprocessed) dog treats that night. She had no problem curling back up at my feet afterwards and forgetting all about it. I sure didn't! Such a sweet dog :) Do you find this valuable?
