Shelby vs. 'the indestructible dog toy'

My parents had a pit bull terrier for about 12 years. I know what you're thinking - oh god, a pit bull. He was great though. Not very well behaved, but never hurt a soul. And fantastic with children. Anyway, he loved these dog toys called 'Kongs.' Kongs were supposed to be indestructible. Over the years Shelby when though a new Kong every six months. He was a dog on a mission I tell you. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't know if they did when Shelby was around, but they now make two versions of kongs- the traditional "red" ones and "black" ones. The black ones are made for power chewers. I've never heard how they stand up compared to the red ones, but they're supposed to be more hardy. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

My bull terrier, Dime, goes through the black Kong toys in about a month... they are not indestructible for extremely powerful and determined chewers. I am still in search of the perfect chew toy. We may have to resort to Kevlar! 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

red, black, it didn't matter. Many a Kong were felled by our dearly departed 'shelbs.' What was really fun was watching him hike the kong through his legs like a football. Until he hit the glass front china cabinet. Expensive little dog for a mutt. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
