As for Designer Dogs
Nov 5 2007, 10:11 AM EST
I for one agree. Every person has their own opinion, I have owned dogs all my life, but never have I had a companion like the chipoo's (wapoo) or chihuahua's I have now. As for those who call them mutts, look at all the people (mutts as you call them) that are in the world....My babies are precious to me and I would never spade or neuter them because some people believe they are mutts....I can't even put into words what I think about some of these posts....Unbelieveable....To each their own

I agree. I also have two Chipoos and they are the most wonderful precious dogs I have ever owned. They have the most energy, personality and playfulness I have ever seen in a dog. They are extremely smart. Lacey actually tries to use her paw to grab your hand when she wants something and slaps at you when you tell her no. They definitely don't act like any dog I have ever seen. I love all dogs pure or mixed. For more pictures of Lacey and Logan visit http://www.chipoo.designermixes.org

Also, spaying and neutering is HEALTHIER for your dog, as it helps to greatly prevent ovarian cancer, cysts, and other health issues in females, or prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and various other issues as well in the males. It will also prolong your dogs' life. If your dogs are so precious to you, I would think you would want to keep them healthy. But as you said, "to each their own." 1 out of 1 found this valuable. thats very true. My dogs are. I feel bad if i don't, because than dogs are being euthinized, and if you spay or neuter your dog, it will make it so at least that might not happen a few more times. But theres also another way to look at it, because if you spay or neuter your dog, that is one less animal that gets to have a life, kinda. There are different veiws to it, so im not going to side with anyone. We all have our reasons. But still, if you don't really know what you're doing by not spaying or neutering your dogs, bad things happen. Most people that aren't purposly breeding their dog spays or neuters it, just to be safe, but you can do whatever you want.

With the thousands of dogs killed every single day by the government, I think that fixing a dog is a humane thing to do. What good is it to bring lives into the world-just for them to be killed later. There are many cities that are requiring fixing dogs or paying hundreds of dollars in a breeder's license every year. I find myself wondering if you've ever gone to a dog pound and been told which dogs are going to be killed the next day- I don't care what terms you use- dogs go to the pound and get killed.

"I call pound dogs, and pet of the week dogs m"death Row" dogs. My girls are spayed, and Max keeps the jewels, but he goes nowhere. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as dogs are not producing unwanted dogs, health aside, it's ok mwith me. Princess was so sick that it cost Lynda and me over $300 dollars. If one can afford to buy a dog and pay upkeep, it is up to them. A dog is what you make of them. mm 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

So true about beauty being in the eye of the beholder-people have expectations of certain things & situations-so they react accordingly. I'm wondering if that's why the member got bit by a dog from a shelter- the dog felt her fear-or whatever & bit her. If you expect love from a certain type of dog-that type of dog will feel your love and love you back. You could get that type of love from any dog that you loved. Maximusandz loves with her heart and has different mixes that love her. Also, if you expect a dog to be more active and have love-it's a pleasure & delight. If you expect a dog to be active and don't like that breed, it's a nuisance that annoys you and a chore to take care of. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy. You get what you expect- Death row is a good & apt term.

It took Me and princess 2 months to bond, and I approached her at her will. Because it was a large area, school ground, she never had a problem and left when adults were around, except for me. "Designer dog, is a new phrase for something that has been done forever, Checkers is a loved dog first, and a breed of dog second, I would not let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about this. Unethical breeders are the ones who should feel uncomfortable. Please do not excuse yourself, or your dog for his genetic make-up. mm 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

My complaint is mainly that many insist on calling them "breeds"-not designer "dogs", as you do. You're honest and understand that. Some people become screaming mad-by insisting that they have a "breed". To those people-I ask them what are the standards? I think that Checkers is a really lucky dog. May I add that Checkers is as cute as a button.
